Support READ Act Reauthorization
U.S. partnerships with low-income countries have helped build stronger education systems around the world. Efforts to increase resources, build infrastructure, and train teachers have seen incredible results that make our world healthier, safer, and smarter. Despite those achievements, 3 out of 4 children in developing countries cannot read and understand a simple text by the age of 10.
The Reinforcing Education Accountability in Development (READ) Act, passed in 2017, has helped the U.S. Government make significant progress in addressing learning loss around the world by developing a whole-of-government strategy on international basic education, including key accountability and transparency measures.
Now is the time to make sure this progress continues with passage of the READ Reauthorization Act of 2023 which would reauthorize the READ Act of 2017 for an additional five years, continuing current U.S. efforts to ensure equal access to quality education for children throughout the world.
Ask your Representative to support final passage of the bipartisan READ Reauthorization Act by bringing this legislation up for a vote in the House of Representatives.
