Global Education Partnerships & Advocacy GCE-US intern and student leader Melia Oliver met with local in-district staff for Representative Barbara Lee (D-CA), advocating for global education funding and voicing support to make sure that resources supporting kids around the world do not get cut. "Reaching out to my member of Congress’ office was an exciting and empowering experience. I was thrilled when my outreach led to a meeting with a congressional staffer. This experience inspired me to continue advocating for policies that I care about. I would encourage everyone to request a meeting with their member of Congress (and be persistent!) when they want to make their voice heard. If we all take a small step, our collective impact would be tremendous." ~Melia |

Take Action: August is the Critical Time to Speak Up |
|
Please join Melia and reach out to your members of Congress today! At the Global Education Summit, the U.S. government committed funding levels that would decrease funding levels to the Global Partnership for Education, but advocates like you make a vital difference in showing policymakers how important it is to not cut funding for education. Your advocacy voice is critical, especially right now when Senators are making funding decisions. What action step below is right for you? >> I have 30 seconds to take action: Your Senators need to hear from you -- please act today! >> I want to help kids around the world and have 5 minutes: Please speak up and contact your members of Congress here. >> I can spare a few minutes now and 30-60 minutes to meet with my congressional offices: Please email us or sign up here to reach out to your members of Congress and request a meeting to tell them how important global education is directly. We're glad to train and support you every step of the way! |
