Marking Milestones

As we move through graduation season, we’re celebrating the incredible achievements of students everywhere, including several members of our own GCE-US family who are proudly crossing the stage this year. Their dedication to advancing education equity while pursuing their own studies continues to inspire our entire community.

We’re also excited to share another milestone: the launch of our newly updated GCE-US website. With a fresh design and improved navigation, it’s now easier than ever to discover our members, explore our advocacy efforts, and find meaningful ways to get involved.

Here’s to new beginnings, continued learning, and the collective progress we’re making together.

Sincerely,

Giulia McPherson
Executive Director

FY27 Senate Dear Colleague Garners 31 Signatures

GCE‑US worked closely with the office of Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) to lead the FY27 Senate Dear Colleague Letter on International Basic Education, which urged Senators to support $970 million in funding for global education programs. In partnership with his team, GCE‑US drafted the letter, coordinated Senate outreach, and elevated key messages underscoring the importance of strong U.S. leadership in advancing diplomacy, promoting global stability, and supporting education initiatives that reflect American values.

With the support of our coalition members, we secured 31 Senate sign-ons, demonstrating strong support for robust funding for international basic education. As we await release of the Senate’s FY27 bill, GCE‑US continues active engagement with Senate offices, urging sustained investment in international basic education programs, including critical education focused multilaterals such as the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and Education Cannot Wait (ECW).

Q+A with Former GCE-US Youth Advocate Eliana Stanislawski

Our young alumni are at the heart of GCE-US’s mission, and their continued leadership shows how youth advocacy creates lasting change. That’s why we were especially proud to recently feature former Youth Advocate Eliana Stanislawski, who shared her journey from teen activist to supporting educators working with refugee and immigrant learners. Her story is a powerful reminder that when our advocates grow, our movement grows with them.

CorpsAfrica

CorpsAfrica recruits and trains university educated African youth to serve in rural communities within their own countries, working alongside local leaders to create sustainable solutions that reduce poverty, strengthen livelihoods, and build resilience. This mission reflects a pan African movement rooted in volunteerism, entrepreneurship, and community led development. Because communities themselves identify their priorities, education often rises to the forefront, whether improving school facilities, supporting youth programs, or strengthening learning environments that open doors for long term opportunity.

Their work places a strong emphasis on youth, women, children, people with disabilities, and refugees who frequently face barriers to accessing education, healthcare, clean water, food security, employment, and economic opportunity. By collaborating closely with communities, CorpsAfrica ensures that every initiative is inclusive, impactful, and aligned with local needs. Their approach shows how meaningful progress in education grows when those most affected are empowered to shape their own futures.
