Powered By Our Members

I’m continually reminded that the heart of our coalition has always been our members - their leadership, lived experience, and unwavering commitment to community‑driven change are what make our shared mission real and possible.

Two recent milestones capture the power of that collective strength. CorpsAfrica is celebrating 15 years of advancing locally led service, and iACT’s Little Ripples program has been shortlisted for the 2026 Ockenden International Prize, one of only 11 entries selected from 167 applicants across 43 countries. These are extraordinary achievements, and a testament to the vision and dedication behind them.

These moments reflect who we are as a coalition. Thank you to all of our members for being the foundation of this community. Your work continues to define what meaningful, sustainable impact looks like.

Sincerely,

Giulia McPherson
Executive Director

FY27 Appropriations Kick-Off

GCE‑US is actively engaging policymakers as the FY27 appropriations process gets underway, meeting with congressional offices, submitting programmatic requests, and emphasizing the importance of sustained U.S. leadership on global education.

Again this year, we partnered with Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) to sponsor the bipartisan FY27 International Basic Education Dear Colleague Letter, which urges appropriators to provide $970 million for basic education within the International Affairs budget. Alongside this effort, we are working directly with individual offices to submit detailed funding requests that reinforce the need for strong U.S. investments in children’s learning worldwide.

As members of Congress begin shaping their FY27 priorities, advocates can play a critical role in ensuring global education remains front and center. We encourage supporters to send a letter to their policymakers urging them to support the full FY27 request and stand up for equitable, quality education for all children.

Call for Applicants: 2026 Youth Fellowship

In 2025, GCE-US empowered young leaders to advocate for whole child policies – including access to education – by building their communication, civic engagement, and leadership skills. After intensive training, participants met with congressional offices, then designed community action projects that collectively reached more than 350 people. Every participant reported feeling more motivated to engage in advocacy and to see themselves as education advocates, with strong gains in public speaking, policy understanding, and strategic communication.

After last year’s successes, we’re excited to announce our Call for Applicants to join our 2026 cohort! We invite youth (ages 14-22) passionate about advocating for education to apply by the March 22 deadline at the link below. Questions? Reach out to Grace Rector, Program Director, at grector@gce-us.org.

Association d'Aide à l'Education de l'Enfant Handicapé (AAEEH)

The Association d'Aide à l'Éducation de l'Enfant Handicapé (AAEEH) is an advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring that all children with disabilities, especially girls, can fully exercise their right to education. Through training, awareness‑raising, and direct support, AAEEH works to improve the access, participation, and retention of children with disabilities in school systems.

Their OUR VOICE initiative focuses specifically on adolescent girls with disabilities, providing dignity kits that address menstrual health, reproductive rights, and the stigma surrounding both. By offering accessible information and creating platforms for girls to express their experiences, the initiative helps identify their real needs and reduce menstrual insecurity. By 2026, the project aims to reach at least 10,000 girls with disabilities across three countries in Europe and sub‑Saharan Africa.
