I urge you to co-sponsor and support H.R.681 / S.41, bipartisan bicameral legislation to reauthorize the Reinforcing Education Accountability in Development (READ) Act of 2017. This important reauthorization will expand upon the original READ Act passed in 2017, which required a five-year strategy to be created and implemented to equitably expand access to basic education for all children around the world, particularly marginalized children, and measurably improve the quality of education and learning outcomes. Supporting H.R.681 / S.41 is urgent because: -	In low-and-middle income countries, an estimated 70% of 10-year-olds are likely to be unable to read if current trends in learning losses continue. -	COVID-19 has disrupted the education of over 91% of the world’s children and youth. -	Out-of-school children are particularly vulnerable, as they face increased risks of exploitation – including forced labor and trafficking, child marriage, and pregnancy – alongside poverty. As the COVID-19 pandemic and humanitarian emergencies in Ukraine, Yemen, Ethiopia, Venezuela, Afghanistan, and other crises further contribute to learning losses, the reauthorization of the READ Act is critical to ensuring quality education for all children and youth. Please co-sponsor and support the READ Act Reauthorization (H.R.681 / S.41) today. Thank you for your support and commitment to education for all children and youth!
