Take Action: This September Let Your Voice Be Heard!

Reach out to your members of Congress today! The U.S. government recently committed to decrease funding levels to the Global Partnership for Education, but advocates like you make a vital difference in showing policymakers how important it is to not cut funding for education. Your advocacy voice is critical, especially right now when Senators are making funding decisions.

What action step below is right for you?

>> I have 30 seconds to take action:
Your Senators need to hear from you -- please act today!

>> I want to help kids around the world and have 5-10 minutes:
Please speak up and contact your members of Congress here.

Global Education Partnerships & Advocacy

August 31 Coalition Meeting:
Last week we met and heard from the Global Partnership for Education, UN Girls' Education Initiative, AMPLIFY Girls, and Magis Americas, to learn more about the fantastic work they are doing to advocate for quality, inclusive education for learners across the globe. If you are interested in joining our next coalition meeting, please RSVP here.

Inclusive Education & Early Childhood Community of Practice August 18:
The Inclusive Education and Early Childhood Community of Practice met to discuss new reports, tools, and future initiatives to build inclusive societies through inclusive early childhood education for children with disabilities. If you are interested in joining the Community of Practice, click here

International Youth Day (August 12):
This year, events to celebrate International Youth Day 2021 took place all around the world. We heard from youth advocates and together increased legislative co-sponsors and policymaker support for the Girls LEAD Act.

World Humanitarian Day (August 19):
This year, the theme for World Humanitarian Day highlighted the immediate consequences of the climate emergency for the world’s most vulnerable people and advocated to ensure that their voices are heard, especially in the lead up to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in November.

What We're Reading

We have two great blogs that we are excited to share with all of you. First, our recent GCE-US intern, Melia Oliver, reflects on her Impact-Focused Internship Experience with GCE-US, and all the important work she was able to do during her summer internship. Read more from Melia here.

Our second blog is from our Senior Fellow, Shruti Nallappa, who shares highlights from the recent "Meeting the Education Needs of Displaced Children and Young People" event during the Global Education Summit. Learn more here.

Statement from GCE-US on Afghanistan and Haiti

The Global Campaign for Education-US is deeply concerned about the suffering of people in Afghanistan and Haiti in the midst of humanitarian crises, and stands in solidarity with educators and partners working tirelessly to secure the fundamental right to education for all children and youth. In the midst of unfolding humanitarian crises in Haiti, Afghanistan, and other contexts around the globe, it is more important than ever that responses include quality, inclusive education and whole child approaches in emergencies so that the most vulnerable children are not left behind. See our full statement here.
