September 2024 Newsletter |
|
Dear Friends, Welcome to GCE-US’s monthly e-newsletter! After a brief hiatus, this resource will continue to bring you updates and opportunities from across the GCE-US coalition so that you can effectively advocate and mobilize on behalf of increasing access to a quality education for young people around the globe. As GCE-US’s new Executive Director, I have been heartened by the support and enthusiasm our members have expressed for the key role that GCE-US plays in advancing this mission. I’d like to thank my predecessor, Jennifer Rigg, for her leadership over the years and look forward to working with our members and supporters to continue to grow and strengthen our coalition’s impact. To help guide our work over the coming months, please take a moment to share your thoughts and feedback via a brief survey. If you would like to reach out to me directly, I can be reached at gmcpherson@gce-us.org. I look forward to continuing our work together! Each month, GCE-US will share an update related to U.S. Government advocacy efforts. This month, the focus is on the role that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) plays in the annual federal budget process. The first step in this process is the development of the President’s Budget Request. GCE-US and partners have met with OMB to encourage returning fiscal year 2026 funding levels to at least the highest funding level of $970 million (enacted in FY2023). We have drafted an organizational sign-on letter and encourage all our members to join this effort. The deadline for sign-on is Wednesday, September 11 by 5pm Eastern. Sign on here. |
